Vítor Tedim Cruz was born in Porto, Portugal in 1974. Titul M.D. získal na ICBAS-HGSA, Univerzite v Oporto (1992 – 1998), v rokoch 2001 – 2005 študoval neurológiu a pokračoval v postgraduálnom štúdiu v oblasti manažmentu zdravotníckych systémov na Obchodnej univerzite v Oporto (2009 – 2010). Titul PhD v oblasti vedy a technológie zdravotníctva získal na Univerzite v Aveiro v roku 2014. In 2015 he integrated the Epidemiological Research Unit at the Public Health Institute of the University of Oporto.
V rámci výskumu sa zaoberá hlavne neurorehabilitáciou, kognitívnou neurológiou a neurológiou správania a cerebrovaskulárnymi ochoreniami. He is the principal investigator and co-investigator of public funded scientific projects and co-author of international peer-reviewed articles indexed in Pubmed, 15 books and book chapters. Ako hosťujúci asistent prednášal neurovedu na Oddelení vedy o zdraví na Univerzite v Aveiro (2006 – 2014). As a Senior Neurologist (2006-2016) he worked at the Neurology Department, Centro Hospitalar Entre Douro e Vouga, Santa Maria da Feira, Portugal, where he ran a memory clinic and acute stroke care organisation. In 2011 he co-founded Neuroinova, a company dedicated to research and development of technologies in the field of cognitive rehabilitation and commercialisation of COGWEB®, Brain on Track® and CACAO® systems. He is a member of the board of the Portuguese Stroke Organisation (since 2011) and of the board of Neurologists of the Portuguese Medical Council (2012-2021). Since 2016 he is head of the Neurology Department and Stroke Unit at Unidade Local de Saúde de Matosinhos, Portugal.
